Senses explores how fashion makes you feel. Beyond physical sensations, clothes evoke emotions, whether that's a sudden confidence while wearing your favorite jacket, longing when you see an ex's sweatshirt, or clothes that build a connection to your community.
This issue was the magazine's first 8.5" x 11" printing.
Heartstrings
"Heartstrings" especially focused on the clothes' symbolism through change and transformation. The concept follows the lead character through a breakup as well as the difficulties and growth that it involves.
The visual style was inspired by the core conflict of "Heartstrings." The emotional mess the protagonist is going through suggested a physically "messy" aesthetic would be appropriate. As a result, physical collage and paint were used; collage responsibilities were shared with Martín Rojas. This more organic imagery was contrasted by the neat, left-aligned type to add visual rest so as to not overwhelm the reader. Type was set in 12/16 Soleil Regular; Soleil Bold was used for the poem titles.
